A coroner’s inquest in the United Kingdom has ruled that 27-year-old Nigerian mother, Beatrice Solomon, died by suicide after a prolonged battle with mental health challenges.
Beatrice was found unconscious at her home on Norris Road in Stoke-on-Trent on March 4, 2026. Her husband, Damian Michael Butler, had left earlier that day for work but discovered her unresponsive when he returned home. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed her death.

Investigators found no evidence to suggest that anyone else was involved in the incident.
During the inquest, Butler told the court that his wife had struggled with mental health issues for about a year, which he believed were linked to ongoing matters involving Stoke-on-Trent City Council. He also disclosed that he later became aware she had previously made two attempts to end her life.

A post-mortem examination concluded that Beatrice died from oxygen deprivation. Coroner Li Hammond-Naylor ruled that the death was a suicide, stating that evidence presented during the hearing showed she had researched and planned her actions beforehand.

Originally from Nigeria, Beatrice relocated to Stoke-on-Trent in November 2023, where she worked as a caregiver. She is survived by her young son and siblings.

Following news of her death, many people expressed sadness on social media, with several users highlighting the importance of mental health support and encouraging those experiencing emotional struggles to seek help and speak with trusted friends, family members or professionals.
