The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced plans to remove 100,000 companies from Nigeria’s register over their failure to comply with statutory obligations under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), 2020.
In a public notice dated July 15, 2026, the commission said the exercise is being carried out in line with the provisions of Sections 692(3) and 692(4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020.

According to the commission, the names of the affected companies have been published on its official platform for public access.
The CAC directed all affected companies to regularise their status by filing all outstanding annual returns and submitting information on persons with significant control or beneficial ownership within 90 days.

The commission also instructed companies that complete the process to forward evidence of compliance to its designated email address within the stipulated period for verification.
It warned that any company that fails to meet the requirements before the deadline will be removed from the register without further notification.

The commission stated that the exercise is part of its ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with corporate regulations and maintain an accurate and up-to-date register of companies operating in Nigeria.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to delivering efficient and improved services to businesses and the general public.
