Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has paid a condolence visit to social media commentator Isaac Fayose following the death of his wife after a prolonged illness.
The visit came a day after Fayose publicly reaffirmed his support for Obi in a viral video, stating that he remains “Obidient” because he believes Obi is the only leader capable of fixing Nigeria.
Fayose made the clarification after facing criticism over a viral video that showed him alongside Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and socialite Cubana Chief Priest, prompting speculation that he had abandoned the Obidient movement.
Responding to the backlash, Fayose insisted that his support for Peter Obi had not changed.
During the visit, Obi sympathized with Fayose and his family over the loss of his wife, encouraging them to remain strong during the difficult period.
Fayose had earlier revealed that Obi first reached out to him through a phone call before visiting him personally to offer his condolences.
Speaking after the visit, Fayose said Obi called to express sympathy over his wife’s death and reiterated that he remains fully committed to the Obidient movement.
Fayose’s wife passed away in May after a long battle with cancer. The businessman had described her death as one of the most painful experiences of his life and shared emotional tributes following her burial.
The condolence visit came shortly after Obi also visited former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi to sympathize with him over the passing of his mother.
