Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed the presidential alliance between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting that the ticket has no realistic chance of winning Kano State in the 2027 general election.
Speaking to journalists, the former Kano State governor described the Obi-Kwankwaso partnership as politically weak, arguing that it lacks the support and leadership credentials needed to secure victory in Kano.
Ganduje questioned Peter Obi’s record as governor of Anambra State, saying he did not leave behind achievements that would convince Nigerians he is capable of leading the country effectively.
He also challenged Obi’s experience in public service, asking what other major leadership roles he had held that demonstrated his ability to manage the affairs of the nation.
Turning to Rabiu Kwankwaso, Ganduje argued that the former Kano governor’s political record was not strong enough to inspire confidence among voters. He noted that Kwankwaso did not serve two consecutive terms as governor, unlike himself and former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, who both completed eight uninterrupted years in office.
According to Ganduje, Kwankwaso has yet to establish a legacy that would persuade Kano residents or the wider Nigerian electorate that he is qualified to serve successfully as vice president.
He maintained that the NDC ticket would struggle to gain acceptance in Kano, insisting that the alliance would fail to make a significant impact in the state during the 2027 elections.
