The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has approved the deployment of Commissioners of Police to eight state commands and several strategic formations across Nigeria.
The redeployment, announced on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, followed the approval of the Police Service Commission and is aimed at improving operational efficiency, strengthening leadership across commands and supporting ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
The newly appointed Commissioners of Police for state commands include Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo for Abia State, Ayodeji Faniyan for Plateau, Saka Adewale Ajao for Bayelsa, Ajo Geoffrey Ordue for Cross River, Nanna Oji Ama for Anambra, Patrick Daaor for Edo, Tani Murtala for Jigawa and Samuel Erale for Delta State.
In addition to state commands, the IGP approved new postings to key police formations, including the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration, Department of Training and Development, Police Academy and Police Staff College.
Among those deployed are CP Yemi John Oyeniyi as CP INTERPOL at the FCID, Abuja; CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike to the Department of Finance and Administration; CP Aina Adesola to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit at FCID Annex, Lagos; and CP Uduak Ita Otu to General Investigation at the FCID, Abuja.
Others include CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf for the Counter Terrorism Unit, CP Taiwo A. Adedeji for Anti-Human Trafficking at FCID Abuja, CP Ajayi Oluyemi for the Department of Finance and Administration, and CP Bolanle Aremu for Inspectorate duties.
The redeployment also affected senior officers posted to the Police Staff College, Police Academy and other specialised units, including CP Nelson Nwamana, who was assigned to the Police Academy, Kano, and CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, who was posted to FCID Annex, Gombe.
According to the police, IGP Disu charged the newly deployed officers to use their experience to strengthen intelligence-driven policing, improve operational performance, promote professionalism and deepen engagement with communities.
He urged them to remain committed to protecting lives and property while maintaining discipline, accountability and high standards of service delivery.
The Force said the latest deployment is part of broader efforts to enhance police capacity, improve internal coordination and deliver more effective policing services across the country.
