Datti Baba-Ahmed says Tinubu’s opponents, including Peter Obi, cannot transform Nigeria
Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has said none of the politicians challenging President Bola Tinubu can bring the kind of change Nigeria needs, including his former running mate, Peter Obi.

Baba-Ahmed made the remarks while discussing the 2027 presidential election, arguing that Nigeria requires a completely new direction rather than a return to politicians who have previously been part of the country’s political establishment.
According to him, President Tinubu should prepare to leave office, but he does not believe the current opposition candidates offer the solution to Nigeria’s problems.

When asked whether his comments included Peter Obi, Baba-Ahmed confirmed that his position applied to his former running mate as well.
He argued that many of those seeking to replace Tinubu had, at different times, been involved in Nigeria’s existing political system and therefore could not represent the fundamental change he believes the country requires.
Baba-Ahmed maintained that Nigeria needs a new generation of leadership and a different approach to addressing the country’s political and economic challenges.
