Several supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue State have sustained injuries following a road accident involving vehicles conveying them to the party’s North-Central mega rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

The accident occurred on Saturday, October 10, 2026, within Lafia town, as the supporters travelled to attend the political gathering organised in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

According to reports, the crash involved a head-on collision between vehicles conveying the Benue APC supporters and another vehicle. The incident occurred a few kilometres from the rally venue.
The injured supporters were reportedly rushed to hospitals in Lafia for medical attention. However, the exact number of people injured had not been confirmed at the time of reporting.

Dan-Morgan Ihomun, the Publicity Secretary of the Austin Agada-led APC faction in Benue State, confirmed the incident, stating that no lives were lost in the accident.

He explained that the victims were supporters of the faction loyal to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
The accident disrupted the journey of the Benue contingent, which was travelling to join other party members and political stakeholders at the rally.

The gathering was part of the APC’s North-Central mobilisation efforts in support of the Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Further details regarding the circumstances that led to the collision and the conditions of the injured supporters had yet to be fully established as of the time of filing this report.
