Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has expressed confidence that the state will support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections. He attributed the expected support to Tinubu’s longstanding political relationships with Katsina leaders and his record of supporting the state’s political interests.
Radda spoke on Monday while receiving a delegation led by former Zamfara State Governor and Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari. The delegation visited Katsina as part of efforts to mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
According to the governor, Yari and his team had visited traditional institutions in Katsina and Daura to explain Tinubu’s vision and seek the support of traditional rulers. Radda said the engagements were aimed at strengthening the president’s support base ahead of the election.
“He was here to canvas for votes. He has gone around to visit the traditional institutions to explain to them the mission and vision of Mr President and his intention for this country,” Radda said. He added that his administration would work towards ensuring Tinubu’s victory in 2027, expressing optimism that the visits would translate into electoral support.
Radda also said the traditional rulers had responded positively to the delegation’s appeal and pledged their loyalty to Tinubu. He described the president as a political ally of Katsina, citing his support for former President Muhammadu Buhari, who hailed from the state, and his relationship with the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. The governor said these longstanding ties were among the reasons he expected Katsina to support Tinubu in the forthcoming election.
