The assailants, who killed the traditional ruler and abducted his wife and another person, have now lowered their ransom demand from N100 million to N40 million.
Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, the Olukoro of Koro-Ekiti in the Ekiti LGA of Kwara, was tragically murdered in his palace.
The kidnappers initially contacted the family, seeking a N100 million ransom, but negotiations have since brought the amount down.
Mr Kehinde Bayode, Chairman of the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) in the Ekiti Local Government Council of Kwara, mentioned the ongoing negotiation efforts, and a suspect was reportedly apprehended in Eruku town on Sunday.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Kwara, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated that no arrest had been made yet, and the Commissioner of Police deployed a tactical team to Koro-Ekiti to address the situation.
