AbdulRazaq Endorses Yahaya Seriki as Preferred Successor Ahead of Kwara APC Primaries
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has endorsed Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki as his preferred candidate ahead of the All Progressives Congress governorship primaries scheduled for Thursday in Kwara State.
The governor made the endorsement in a statement personally released to journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday afternoon.
According to AbdulRazaq, the decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state.
“Following extensive consultations with party structures and leadership, I am pleased to endorse Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki (MFR) as my preferred successor under the platform of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC),” the statement read.
The governor described Seriki as a young and people-oriented politician with strong leadership qualities and deep grassroots support across Kwara State.
“Young, pro-people, astute and broad-minded, Amb. Yahaya Seriki has been a great political mobiliser with profound investments in and extensive goodwill among the people of Kwara State,” he said.
AbdulRazaq added that he has confidence in Seriki’s capacity to lead the state and sustain the achievements of the current administration.
Despite the endorsement, the governor stressed that other aspirants remain free to participate in the APC governorship primaries.
He, however, urged party members and stakeholders to support Seriki in the interest of party unity, cohesion and continuity.
“While this does not in any way preclude all other aspirants from contesting in the primaries, I urge members and leaders to affirm the choice of Seriki as our candidate for cohesion, unity and continuous success of the party,” he stated.
The governor also clarified that the endorsement should not be seen as a rejection of other aspirants, noting that several qualified individuals are contesting for the party’s ticket.
“The choice of Amb. Yahaya Seriki is neither a disapproval of any of our eminently qualified aspirants nor a whimsical attempt to delegitimise the noble aspirations of our people,” the statement added.
AbdulRazaq commended all governorship aspirants for what he described as their maturity, discipline and commitment to the progress of Kwara State and the APC.
