#Action Alert: Demolition Along Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Set for Saturday

The Federal Government has announced that the demolition of structures within the first three kilometers of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will commence on Saturday, April 27. Mrs. Korede Keisha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, disclosed this during a news conference held on Thursday in Lagos.

Keisha clarified that the structures to be demolished are those located within the designated right of way for the project. She urged property owners who have received demolition notices and have concerns to visit the secretariat of the Federal Ministry of Works starting from today, Thursday, April 25, until tomorrow, Friday, April 26, to discuss their concerns.

She stated, “This press briefing is to create awareness for all those who may be affected or have interests along the project corridor. We have issued demolition notices to all those within the right of way, and we are using this platform to inform everyone who has concerns within that corridor and has been served with notices to visit the secretariat from 3:00 PM today.”

“We welcome them from today until tomorrow. If you have any activities planned along that axis and have been marked for demolition, we urge you to see us at the secretariat between today and tomorrow evening. Subsequently, the demolition squad will take action starting Saturday morning for the first three kilometers,” she added.

Keisha emphasized, “For the initial three kilometers, any structure within the right of way of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will be removed. Therefore, I want to use this opportunity to reach out to as many people as possible and assure them that their issues will be addressed between today and tomorrow.”

She particularly addressed those within the zero to three kilometers range of the project who have been marked for demolition, urging them to engage with the authorities during the stipulated period.

The Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project, spanning 700 kilometers, aims to connect Lagos to Cross River, passing through the coastal states of Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom, before reaching Cross River. The construction of the 700-kilometer Lagos-Calabar coastal road is estimated to cost N15 trillion, with each kilometer of the road projected at N4 billion.Breaking news HeadlineHeadline news
