Sultan Bello, the National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has resigned his membership of the party with immediate effect.
Bello announced his resignation in a letter dated September 24, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the Ja’oji Gyadi Gyadi Arewa Ward in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State.
In the letter, he said the decision followed extensive consultations, careful consideration and personal reflection, stressing that he did not take the step lightly.
Bello expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the activities and development of the party during his time as a member.
He also thanked former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, whom he described as his principal, for his guidance, support, trust and the opportunity to work with him.
The former youth leader further appreciated the ADC leadership, stakeholders, members and supporters for the opportunity to serve the party.
He subsequently requested that his resignation be formally accepted and that his name be removed from the party’s membership records with immediate effect.
His resignation comes amid developments within the ADC as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections. Reports have linked his departure to controversy surrounding the composition of a campaign council, although Bello did not expressly identify that issue as the reason for his resignation in his formal letter.
Following the submission of his resignation, Bello also announced his decision publicly, writing that he had quit the party.
The development marks the end of Bello’s tenure as the ADC National Youth Leader and adds to recent changes within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
