Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed that his political alliance with the All Progressives Congress (APC) is limited to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The governor also dismissed reports alleging that he had reached an agreement with the APC to share legislative and local government positions ahead of the general elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke described the reports circulating on social media as false.
The reports had claimed that the governor and the Presidency agreed to distribute local government positions, Senate seats, House of Representatives seats and State House of Assembly positions between the Accord Party and the APC in Osun State.

Adeleke explained that the political understanding among the coalition partners was specifically designed to support Tinubu’s presidential ambition and did not extend to other elections.
He stated that he would personally campaign for Accord candidates contesting seats in the Senate, House of Representatives and Osun State House of Assembly.
According to the governor, all legislative positions remain open for competition, and candidates from different political parties will have to seek the support of voters.
He urged political parties to campaign for their respective candidates, stressing that the electorate would ultimately determine the outcome of the elections.

Adeleke Addresses Osun Local Government Crisis
The governor also clarified that discussions surrounding the lingering local government crisis in Osun State were not part of any political seat-sharing arrangement.
He said the negotiations were aimed at protecting the interests of APC chairpersons as well as elected Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmen and councillors.

Adeleke expressed confidence that the crisis would be resolved before the end of the year, noting that restoring effective grassroots governance was important to the state’s development and the success of the presidential campaign.
The governor had earlier reaffirmed his support for Tinubu while inaugurating the presidential campaign council in Osun State.
The development comes amid efforts by political figures across party lines to mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
