A Member of the House of Representatives, Adewunmi Onanuga, has disclosed that she was disappointed that the All Progressives Congress denied her the opportunity to become the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Adewunmi Onanuga stated that a lot of the persons that indicated interest in becoming the Deputy Speaker did not believe that the South-East was worthy of being given the position of the Deputy Speaker.
Adewunmi Onanuga said that she does not know why the leadership of the APC decided to zone the Deputy Speakership to the South-East despite South-East not being able to deliver for APC in the last election.
Adewunmi Onanuga disclosed that those that indicated interest in becoming the Deputy Speaker thought that the party would reward them for delivering for the party during the general election, but the party decided to include the South-East.
She went on to stress that maybe the party felt that it does not matter the number of votes that came from various regions, rather, all that mattered is that those persons who gave their all for the party should be rewarded despite the number of votes they secured.
