Former House of Representatives Majority Leader, Ado Doguwa, alleged that a member within the NNPP smuggled numerous ballot papers used in Kano State’s 2023 general elections.
Doguwa made these allegations during a Channels Television interview, responding to the court’s decision to oust the Kano State governor due to over 100,000 unstamped ballot papers used to vote for NNPP.
During the interview, Doguwa hinted at politicians having means to smuggle original INEC ballot papers, citing the situation in Kano without specifying individuals. As a partisan member of the APC, he claimed that though the discovered illegal ballot papers were original INEC documents, they were smuggled. He suggested knowing the involved personalities and alleged that someone gained access to the Central Bank of Nigeria, acquiring INEC’s original but illicitly obtained ballot papers.
