Air Peace, the Nigerian airline, recently launched its Lagos-London route, but it’s failing to meet local standards in the United Kingdom, disregarding the welfare of its passengers. This has led to overbooking, premature counter closures, and stranded passengers with valid tickets left at the UK airport. Stranded passengers were forced to pay an extra £145 each to update their tickets for the next day, with no Air Peace help desk staff available as per international regulations. These actions violate IATA regulations for airlines operating international routes and reflect a lack of consideration for passengers. A petition is being drafted to address these issues, and Air Peace may face heavy fines for its negligence. Passenger rights and welfare are norms in the UK, unlike in Nigeria where airlines often disregard them. Legal action is being taken by a passenger in London, with a high chance of success, demanding compensation for the inconvenience caused. Air Peace’s failure to meet UK regulations before its maiden flight reflects carelessness and gives Nigeria and the airline a poor image. Nigeria needs more airlines for the Lagos-London route to improve service standards through competition. Some stranded passengers may be leveraging health issues exacerbated by Air Peace’s negligence, according to an aviation expert interviewed in London.
Olamide a stranded passenger lamented.
” I have called my Lawyer and will slam such an unprecedented suit that Air Peace will be bankrupt once they compensate all of us with millions of dollars!” ( Name withheld)
” Ibo people are more concerned with money than humanity! This is not surprising. I will never patronise them again” Mohammed.

It appears that some of the stranded passengers had health issues and may have run at risk of complications due to the negligence of Air Peace. This is one of the trump cards the stranded passengers may be playing according to an Aviation expert interviewed in London.
