#Aiyedatiwa names ex-national assembly clerk as new Ondo deputy governor

The Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has appointed Mr. Olaide Adelami, a former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, as the deputy governor of the state. The announcement was made in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, on Wednesday.

The nomination of the new deputy governor has been forwarded to the state House of Assembly for approval, with the official announcement expected later today. This development follows the governor’s decision to dismiss all commissioners and special advisers on Wednesday.

Adelami, who retired as Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly in April 2018, hails from Owo, Owo Local Government Area, the same LGA as the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. Notably, Adelami was an APC governorship aspirant in 2020 but withdrew in favor of the late Akeredolu.

It is worth recalling that Aiyedatiwa assumed office as the substantive governor on December 27, 2023, following the demise of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away at the age of 67 while receiving treatment for prostate cancer in a German hospital.Breaking news Headline
