ALI MODU SHERIFF ACCUSES PETER OBI OF FUELING DIVISION, SAYS HE NEVER CONDEMNS IPOB OR BIAFRA AGITATIONS

Former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, has accused the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, of promoting ideas capable of dividing Nigeria.

Sheriff made the remarks during an interview on a television political programme while responding to Obi’s recent call for President Bola Tinubu to resign over the country’s security and economic challenges.

According to the former governor, Obi has not openly distanced himself from the Biafra movement or the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), alleging that his political position reflects support for the country’s division.

Sheriff argued that anyone seeking to become Nigeria’s president must demonstrate commitment to the unity of the nation rather than advancing the interests of any particular region or group.

He challenged Obi to publicly clarify his position on the unity of Nigeria, insisting that presidential aspirants should make their stance on national cohesion clear.

His comments come amid ongoing political exchanges between members of the ruling party and the opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.

Recently, Presidential Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, stated that although Peter Obi had previously been viewed as a significant political challenger, the Tinubu administration is no longer concerned about his presidential ambition.
