The All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed the final twelve aspirants set to compete for the party’s gubernatorial ticket in the upcoming 2024 elections in Edo State.

The announcement, made in Abuja by APC National Organising Secretary Suleiman Arugungu, disclosed that out of the initial 23 interested individuals, only 12 have obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination documents, each valued at fifty million naira.

These dozen candidates will undergo the party’s screening process in preparation for the APC primary election scheduled for February 17th.

Notable contenders include former state Chairman Gideon Ikhine, ex-Minister Clem Agba, Edo Central senator Monday Okpebholo, former deputy governor Lucky Imasuen, past governorship candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and Federal Constituency lawmaker Anamero Dekeri.

The APC screening committee, led by former Minister Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, will be inaugurated on Thursday at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

Additionally, a review team, chaired by Senator Ibrahim Danbaba, will oversee the process, including Smart Iheazor as secretary and other members.

The Screening Appeal Committee, comprising Bisi Odewumi, Ngozi Ononiwu, and Abubakar Sidiq, will address any appeals that may arise during the screening process.
