APC Shifts Timelines for 2027 Election Forms, Announces New Primary Schedule
The ruling All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress) has adjusted its timetable for the sale and submission of expression of interest and nomination forms for aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC confirmed that the deadline for purchasing and submitting forms has been extended.
According to the revised schedule, aspirants now have until midnight on Wednesday, May 6, to purchase nomination forms, while completed forms must be submitted by midnight on Thursday, May 7.
The party further disclosed that screening of all aspirants will hold from Friday, May 8, to Tuesday, May 12, after which the list of cleared candidates will be made public on Wednesday, May 13.
The APC had earlier released its full timetable on April 20 for the 2027 election cycle. Under the schedule, the presidential primary is fixed for May 15–16, while the House of Representatives primary will take place on May 18. The Senate primary is slated for May 20, followed by state assembly primaries on May 21, and governorship primaries on May 23.
Meanwhile, opposition parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (Peoples Democratic Party), African Democratic Congress (African Democratic Congress), and NDC are intensifying efforts to challenge the APC’s dominance at the national level ahead of the elections.
