APC GOVERNORS’ FORUM IN DISARRAY AS 20 GOVERNORS MOVE AGAINST UZODINMA

Twenty governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly passed a vote of no confidence in Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, over allegations of financial misconduct and dissatisfaction with his leadership of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).

The decision was said to have been reached during an emergency meeting held in Abuja on Thursday night.

According to reports, the governors also agreed to replace Uzodimma with Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, as chairman of the forum.

Sources familiar with the meeting disclosed that concerns were raised over Uzodimma’s leadership approach, alleged financial irregularities, and what some governors described as inadequate explanations regarding the accusations against him.

The gathering reportedly took place shortly after Vice President Kashim Shettima submitted the presidential nomination forms of President Bola Tinubu.

Some governors at the meeting were said to have argued that anyone facing allegations of misconduct should either step aside or provide a full account of the issues raised.

It was also gathered that the governors informed President Tinubu about their decision, although it remains unclear whether the president has stepped into the matter.

Around 20 governors reportedly participated in the meeting, while others joined virtually.

Meanwhile, the Progressive Governors Forum has denied claims that Uzodimma was removed as chairman.

In a statement issued by the forum’s Director General, Folorunso Aluko, the reports were described as false and without basis.

The forum maintained that there was no official resolution removing Uzodimma and insisted that he remains the chairman of the PGF.
