The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun West Senatorial District has inaugurated a 100-member Election Monitoring and Mobilisation Committee as part of efforts to ensure a credible election and secure victory for its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), in the August 15 governorship election.
The committee was inaugurated in Ile-Ogbo, Ayedire Local Government Area, by the party’s Osun West senatorial candidate, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, alongside the district chairman, Akintola Omolaoye.
Addressing members of the committee, Ogunbiyi said the team would play a vital role in monitoring the election process and ensuring that any irregularities were properly documented.
He noted that election results in Nigeria often end up in court, making credible documentation an important part of the electoral process.
“In Nigeria, election disputes often lead to litigation. That is why it is important to have clear documentary evidence that can stand in court if necessary,” he said.
According to him, the committee comprises 100 members drawn from the 10 local government areas in Osun West, with 10 representatives from each council.
He explained that members were selected because they are educated and familiar with election processes.
The committee will monitor activities from the distribution of election materials at local government offices to polling units and collation centres. It will also operate a situation room for the senatorial district and ensure that incidents are reported promptly.
“These members have been given the responsibility of ensuring that the entire election process is properly monitored and documented. That is why we established this committee,” Ogunbiyi added.
Also speaking, the APC chairman in Osun West, Akintola Omolaoye, expressed confidence that the committee would help deliver victory for the party.
He said the party’s mobilisation efforts across the district had already achieved about 80 per cent of its target and expressed optimism that the remaining work would be completed before election day.
