Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday staged a large-scale solidarity rally in Keffi, the Nasarawa State capital, in support of former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Adamu, who has declared interest in contesting the Nasarawa State governorship under the APC platform, was backed by members of the Mohammed Abubakar Adamu Support Group Organisation (MAASGO), who organised the colourful procession.

The rally began at the Nasarawa State University (NSUK) gate in Keffi and attracted a large crowd of supporters dressed in branded T-shirts and vests with various inscriptions endorsing his candidacy. The procession moved through major streets in the metropolis, accompanied by music, drumming, and chants of support.
Participants carried placards with messages such as “Muje IGP 2027,” “Nasarawa Project MA 2027,” and “Walin Lafia for Governor,” openly canvassing support for Adamu’s political ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking during the rally, Awal Nurain, a representative of the support group, said the turnout demonstrated strong public acceptance of Adamu’s candidacy and marked the beginning of wider mobilisation efforts.
He described the former police chief as a highly experienced public servant, citing his years of service in the Nigeria Police Force, where he rose to the position of Inspector-General of Police.

According to him, Adamu’s track record in public service positions him as a capable leader who can deliver effective governance in Nasarawa State.
He added that the support group remains confident in Adamu’s ability to lead the state, urging residents to rally behind his aspiration ahead of the party primaries.
The rally highlights early political mobilisation within the APC as aspirants across Nasarawa State intensify efforts to secure support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
