#Aviation Advancement: SIFAX Group Consortium Teams Up with Federal and Lagos State Governments

SIFAX Group, in collaboration with Changi Airports International from Singapore, has initiated discussions with the Federal Government and the Lagos State government for strategic cooperation in advancing the country’s aviation sector.

SIFAX Group, a major player in aviation ground handling through its subsidiary SAHCO Plc, expressed its commitment to the sector’s development in recent meetings with Vice President Kasim Shettima, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo.

The group emphasized its capacity to significantly contribute to sector growth, fostering job creation, tourism development, and economic progress.

Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman of the Consortium, highlighted SIFAX Group’s track record in revitalizing enterprises for profitability within Nigeria and beyond. Using SAHCO Plc as an example, Afolabi showcased the group’s investment in transforming it into the foremost cargo handling company in West Africa, listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange.

He cited the successful turnaround of the Tin Can Island Port terminal in Lagos and the ongoing efforts at Warri Terminal B in Delta State.

Afolabi stated, “All of these experiences and expertise, alongside our technical partnership with Changi Airports International, can be put at the disposal of the Federal Government and Lagos State government in their quests to float their respective airlines and the development and management of airport terminals across the country.”

Roy Toh, Director of International Projects at Changi Airports International, expressed confidence that their partnership with SIFAX Group would replicate the success achieved globally by Changi Airports.

He emphasized their openness to collaboration with the government, aiming to bring successful aviation terminal management practices to Nigeria.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended SIFAX Group for its significant investments in the state, contributing to its economic growth.

He assured the state’s readiness to partner with the company in their collaborative endeavors.
