#Bandits abduct local government chairman and three others in Benue

Bandits have abducted the Caretaker Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State, Haanongon Gideon, along with three of his aides.

 

 

The incident reportedly occurred in Anyagba, Tongov, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of the state, as Gideon was en route to the burial of the paramount ruler of Katsina-Ala LG, Chief Fezaanga Wombo.

 

Those kidnapped, along with the chairman, include his Personal Assistant, Mr. Ior Yuhwam, his driver, and a police officer.

This was made known in a statement by Secretary of the Council, Jonathan Modi.

 

Modi disclosed that the incident occurred Saturday morning along Anyagba, Tongov, in Katsina Ala LGA at about 6:30 am.

“The Chairman was kidnapped alongside his orderly, PA, and driver on their way to attend the burial of the paramount Ruler of the LG, the Ter Katsina Ala, HRH Chief Fezaanga Wombo,” Modi said in the statement.

 

 

Modi further advised residents to remain calm and law-abiding while measures are being put in place to ensure the chairman regains his freedom.

 

The Benue State Police Command is yet to respond to enquiries about the incident.
