The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended banker Soberechukwu Ewa, accused of selling new naira notes to POS cashier Azubuike M. Obasi.
The EFCC’s Port Harcourt Zonal Command also arrested the POS agent, Obasi, at Ecobank, Rumuobiakani, and Maddox Night club in the new Government Reservation Area (GRA), Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale, the preliminary investigation revealed that the banker specializes in selling new naira notes to POS cashiers for commercial purposes, while Obasi was caught engaging in currency racketeering with N554,600.00 in his possession.
The suspects will soon face charges in court.
