Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has pledged to accept the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 general elections, provided the exercise is conducted in a transparent and credible manner.

Tuggar made the statement on Sunday during an interactive session with journalists in Bauchi, a day after officially declaring his intention to contest for the APC governorship ticket.
He described himself as a loyal party member, stressing that he has always respected internal party processes and never challenged primary election outcomes in the past.
According to him, his political record shows consistency in accepting party decisions, noting that he has participated in previous contests without disputes or actions against the party’s interest.

The former minister also emphasized that he is open to any mode of primary election adopted by the APC, whether consensus or direct primary.
He stated that his only demand is that due process must be followed and internal party guidelines must be strictly observed throughout the selection process.

Tuggar further dismissed concerns about the APC allegedly promoting a one-party system, describing such claims as normal political exchanges between parties in a competitive democracy.

He expressed confidence that the 2027 general elections would feature multiple presidential contenders, ensuring that Nigerians retain the freedom to choose their leaders.
He also voiced support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing optimism that the President would secure the APC presidential ticket and win re-election in 2027.
