BEHEADED OYO TEACHER: FAMILY PETITIONS TINUBU, SEEKS FRESH FEDERAL INTERVENTION

The family of Michael Olugbade Oyedokun, one of the two teachers who lost their lives during the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to help recover his remains.

While expressing gratitude over the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers, the family said their pain has continued because Oyedokun’s body has not yet been found.

The appeal was made in an open letter addressed to the President and jointly signed by members of the Oyedokun family on Tuesday.

In the letter, the family appreciated President Tinubu, the Federal Government, and security agencies for their efforts in securing the release of the victims after nearly two months in captivity.

They specifically acknowledged the contributions of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and other security agencies involved in the operation.

According to the family, the successful rescue restored hope to many affected families and strengthened their confidence in the government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of Nigerians.

Despite the successful operation, the family said they have been left without closure because Oyedokun’s remains have not been recovered.

They explained that the absence of his body has prevented them from carrying out the burial rites required by their faith and tradition, prolonging their grief and emotional pain.

The family described Oyedokun as a beloved husband, father, brother, and son who died while in captivity, adding that locating his remains would allow them to give him a dignified burial.

They appealed to President Tinubu to direct the appropriate security agencies to intensify efforts to find and recover his body, expressing confidence that the same determination used in rescuing the surviving victims could also lead to the recovery of his remains.

According to the family, returning Oyedokun’s body would not only provide comfort to his loved ones but also reaffirm the value and dignity placed on every Nigerian life.

They urged the President to give the request urgent and compassionate attention, saying a proper burial would help the family begin the healing process after the tragic loss.
