#Behind Closed Doors: Tinubu’s Meeting with Fubara in Aso Rock

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently in a meeting with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, according to reports from Headlinenews.news.

The governor arrived at the Presidential Villa around 5:35 p.m. and proceeded directly to the president’s office, as reported by Vanguard.

This marks the first meeting between the president and the governor since the peace discussions involving his estranged political godfather and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. Notably, the president is attending this meeting alone, without the presence of Wike, unlike the previous peace meeting.

While the agenda of the visit hasn’t been disclosed, it is likely linked to the ongoing political crisis between the governor and the FCT Minister concerning control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in Rivers State.

Earlier, Joe Johnson, the Rivers State Commissioner for Information, confirmed the resignation of Chidi Amadi, the Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Amadi resigned around the same time some cabinet members submitted their resignation letters in December 2023. The Commissioner did not specify the reasons for Amadi’s resignation. Amadi, formerly the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ohio/Akpor Local Government Area, may be resigning due to the political faceoff between Fubara and his predecessor, Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
