Former Adamawa Governor Jibrilla Bindow resigns from ADC, visits Tinubu
Former Adamawa State Governor, Jibrilla Bindow, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and paid a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Bindow, who served as Adamawa governor between 2015 and 2019, announced his resignation from the opposition party amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His decision to leave the ADC has generated attention in the state, particularly as political stakeholders continue to reposition themselves ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The former governor subsequently visited President Tinubu, although details of the meeting and the issues discussed have not been fully disclosed.
Bindow was elected governor of Adamawa State in 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), succeeding Nyako Umaru Fintiri. He sought re-election in 2019 but lost the APC ticket to Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla, popularly known as Bindow, amid internal party disagreements.
Following his departure from the APC, Bindow remained active in political affairs and later joined the ADC.
His latest resignation from the ADC comes at a time when the party has emerged as a major platform for opposition politicians seeking to challenge the ruling APC in 2027.
The ADC has attracted several prominent political figures as part of efforts to build a stronger opposition coalition ahead of the next presidential election.
