Several Killed as Gunmen Ambush Security Operatives in Kebbi
Several military and police officers, along with civilians, were killed on Tuesday night after gunmen ambushed security personnel in Giro Masa community, Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
While the exact number of security casualties remains unclear, at least two residents have been confirmed dead.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers had been operating within the community before they were traced to a construction company yard. Acting on information from locals, soldiers were deployed to the area but were ambushed on their way.

During the attack, the gunmen reportedly set two military gun trucks on fire, intensifying the chaos.
A resident, who spoke anonymously, described the situation as deadly and unexpected. “The gunmen came into our village heading towards the construction yard. We alerted security personnel, but they were ambushed,” he said.
Another witness said panic spread quickly as the attack unfolded. “It was terrifying. People were running in all directions as the gunmen fired and burned the trucks,” the resident added.
As of now, no official statement has been released by security agencies regarding the incident.
Shanga Local Government Area, like other parts of Kebbi State, has experienced sporadic attacks in recent years, with armed groups increasingly targeting both civilians and security personnel.
