Bobrisky treated as normal inmate – NCS officials

Controversial figure Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, who received a six-month prison sentence due to naira abuse, is currently housed with male inmates at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre, according to Report. On April 12, 2024, Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos delivered this verdict, stating it would serve as a warning to others who engage in such actions.

Upon entering the Custodial Centre, Bobrisky was treated equally to other inmates, as confirmed by a high-ranking official who wished to remain anonymous due to not being authorized to discuss the matter. The official mentioned that a medical examination conducted upon Bobrisky’s admission revealed no alterations in his gender or genital organs.

The crossdresser’s gender identity and court proceedings are public records, and he was treated no differently during the admission process. Following the examination, Bobrisky was assigned to a shared cell with other inmates, and he has been following the established rules and procedures within the facility.

The official clarified that Bobrisky is not receiving special treatment and is not protected from other inmates. The custodial centre strictly prohibits any form of abuse and homosexuality, as it is considered a serious offense. Inmates who violate these rules will face legal consequences.

When reached for comment, Rotimi Oladokun, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, declined to provide further information on the matter.
