More than 47 people, mainly women and children, have regained their freedom after being rescued by troops of Operation HADIN KAI during ongoing military operations in Borno State.

The rescue took place in Kangarwa, located in Kukawa Local Government Area, following intensified offensives against terrorist hideouts around the Lake Chad region. Security forces said persistent attacks from both ground troops and air units weakened the insurgents’ activities and forced them to flee their positions.

The pressure mounted by the military created an opportunity for the captives, who had been held for an extended period, to escape and reunite with security personnel.
Authorities confirmed that the rescued individuals have been relocated to a safe facility where they are receiving medical care and humanitarian assistance. Efforts are also underway to support their return and reintegration into their respective communities.

Military officials stated that the successful operation reflects the continued determination of security forces to protect civilians, dismantle terrorist networks, and restore lasting peace across the North-East region.
They further assured that operations against remaining insurgent groups will continue until affected communities are fully secured.
