This year, the United States experienced a significant advancement in technology with the launch of the world’s first plant producing eco-friendly jet fuel from ethanol. However, it is Brazilian farmers, rather than American ones, who will initially profit from this innovation.
Although LanzaJet Inc.’s facility in rural Georgia can process ethanol derived from domestically grown corn, it is anticipated to primarily use imported sugarcane ethanol from Brazil when transitioning to commercial production. This is due to numerous large Brazilian mills already being certified to provide feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) that adheres to both international and domestic standards.
