#BREAKING: Air Peace Announces Launch of Abuja-London Flights, Reveals Keyamo

Headlinenews.news reports that Air Peace, a prominent Nigerian airline, is gearing up to broaden its international flight services with the introduction of a new route from Abuja to London, as revealed by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. Keyamo made this announcement during an appearance on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” program on Thursday, stating that he has granted approval for the new route, marking a significant advancement for the local aviation industry.

This strategic expansion follows the successful launch of Air Peace’s direct flights from Lagos to Gatwick Airport in London on March 30, 2024. This move was a response to the imbalanced Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, aiming to promote equity in international air travel between the two countries.

The entry of Air Peace into this market has garnered positive feedback from industry experts and has fostered competition among international carriers. Previously, ticket prices for international flights on the Lagos-London route soared to N3.5 million. However, with Air Peace offering return economy class tickets at N1.2 million, major foreign airlines like British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and Qatar Airways have been compelled to lower their prices to stay competitive.

The addition of the Abuja-London route is anticipated to provide more choices for travelers, contribute to the reduction of airfare costs, and stimulate further growth in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
