#BREAKING: Court orders Aminu Ado Bayero to stop parading himself as Emir of Kano

By HEADLINENEWS.NEWS correspondent

A Kano High Court has ordered Aminu Ado Bayero to stop parading himself as the Emir of Kano and asked police to eject him from Nassarawa royal residence.

The court presided, over by Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, gave the order on Monday.

This comes against an earlier order of a federal high court sitting in Kano which stopped the State government from scrapping the emirates created by ex-governor, Abdullahi Ganduja and reinstating Sanusi Lamido as governor.

Recall that Governor Abba Yusuf had assented to the repeal of the Kano Emirates Council Law amended by the state house of assembly and announced the reinstatement of Mr Sanusi as the new emir.

The new law repealed the 2019 law signed by former governor of the state Abdullahi Ganduje that created five emirates in the state.

He also ordered the deposed emirs to vacate the state within 48 hours

However, while other emirs complied, Aminu Ado Bayero refused citing the court order which annulled his dethronement.

The issue led to protests on Sunday where supporters of Aminu Bayero were seen asking the government to obey the court order.

Meanwhile, Justice Amina ruling on the case filed by the Kano State Attorney General, Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly as well as the House of Assembly against the five emirs on Monday ordered the five emirs should stop parading themselves as emirs.

“That an order of interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th Defendants either by themselves, servants, privies, and or any other persons or officers serving under them or acting in connection with any other person from parading themselves as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed by the Applicants.

“That an order is hereby granted to the extent that the Commissioner of Police Kano State should immediately take over the palace of the Emir of Kano situate being and lying at State Road Kano and evict the 1 Defendant/Respondent from the said palace pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice dated 24h May, 2024.

That an order of this Hon. Court is hereby granted restraining the 1st, 2nd, 3rd 4th & 5th Defendants from parading themselves as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye in the interest of peace in Kano pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

“That an order is hereby made that 1st – 5th Defendants be served through the office of the Commissioner Police, Kano State who is to ensure immediate implementation of the order of the Hon. Court in the interest of justice.

“That the motion on notice dated 24/05/2024 is adjourned to 11 June, 2024 for hearing,” the order stated.
