Recall that Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State, assumed office as Nigeria’s President in May 2023 and is currently in his first year of a four-year term. Despite having just a year in office, Umahi, the former Governor of Ebonyi State, expresses optimism about Tinubu’s chances for re-election in 2027, over three years from the present. In a recent interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Umahi emphasized that it was by divine will that Tinubu came to power, with a conviction that the incumbent administration, seen as divinely ordained, will govern for eight years. “We are reclaiming and restoring this nation to Nigerians, and that is the mission Mr. President has embarked on, with our unwavering support,” Umahi declared.
The minister further disclosed that the rehabilitation of the Third Mainland Bridge is nearing completion, with 99% of the work already finished. Once the remaining tasks are finalized, the bridge will be reopened to the public. “When we speak of the total overhaul of the bridge, it encompasses the deck,” explained Umahi. “The President has allocated the necessary funds, and I can confirm that 99% of the project is finalized. However, some additional tasks remain, such as installing solar lights to replace generator lights.”
Addressing security concerns, Umahi mentioned plans to install CCTV cameras both above and below the bridge to combat illegal sand mining activities that have been observed. Emphasizing the need for enhanced security measures, Umahi highlighted the completion of the top deck of the bridge, with essential markings currently in progress.
