BREAKING: INEC DECLARES OYEBANJI WINNER OF EKITI GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

Oyebanji secured a comfortable victory after polling a total of 319,224 votes, defeating his closest challengers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who scored 40,543 votes and 12,872 votes respectively.

According to INEC’s official results, the APC candidate won across all 16 local government areas of the state, recording significant margins in key areas including Ado-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ekiti West, Ikole, and Ijero.

In Ado-Ekiti Local Government Area, he polled 38,026 votes, while securing 29,278 votes in Irepodun/Ifelodun, 28,258 votes in Ekiti West, 26,508 votes in Ikole, and 25,506 votes in Ijero.

The PDP recorded its strongest performance in Ikere Local Government Area, where it scored 9,892 votes compared to the APC’s 11,116 votes.

INEC reported that 384,940 voters were accredited for the election, with 375,777 valid votes recorded. A total of 6,332 votes were rejected, bringing the total number of votes cast to 382,109.

The result confirms Governor Oyebanji’s re-election, granting him another term in office as the governor of Ekiti State.
