**Blackout Hits Four Northern States as DisCo Faces Power Supply Loss**
Breaking news reveals that four northern states are currently grappling with power outages due to the loss of bulk power supply by the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company.
The affected states encompass Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi.
A statement from AbdulAzeez Abdullahu, the Head of Corporate Commission at Kaduna DisCo, confirmed this development on Sunday. According to Abdullahi, power supply will be reinstated promptly once the DisCo receives bulk supply at load centers across its franchise.
The management of Kaduna Electric wishes to notify its valued customers about the loss of bulk power supply, resulting in the ongoing outage in Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi states.
“Power supply will be restored to our customers as soon as we receive the same at load centers across our franchise.”
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience,” the statement emphasized.
As reported by The PUNCH, the DisCo did not disclose the cause of the sudden loss of bulk power supply. Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that the scarcity of gas supply has adversely affected electricity generation across Nigeria’s power plants for over a month.
The electricity generating companies, the Transmission Company of Nigeria, and the electricity distribution companies have consistently voiced concerns about the insufficient gas supply for power generation. During a meeting with stakeholders on Thursday, the Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, pledged to find a lasting solution to the problem.
