At least 10 people are feared dead and 15 others hospitalized following an explosion in the Ibadan metropolis. The blast impacted areas around the Bodija axis, damaging buildings including the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Oyo State House of Assembly, and residences. The explosion occurred at Adeyi Avenue, Bodija Estate, Ibadan, with bodies recovered from the site. Rescue workers believe some individuals are still trapped under the rubble. The University College Hospital received at least 15 victims. Governor Seyi Makinde stated that illegal miners stored explosive devices in a building, causing the blast. The government is providing assistance and temporary accommodation for affected residents. Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and those found culpable will be held accountable. Governor Makinde urged residents to remain calm and allow rescue operations to proceed.
