President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended Abdulrasheed Bawa as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Bawa’s suspension was contained in a statement issued by the Director, Information, SGF Office, Willie Basse, on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.
According to the statement, the suspension was to all for a proper investigation into his conduct while in office.
The statement further stated that Bawa has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the director, operations in the commission, who will oversee the affairs of the office of the EFCC chairman, pending the conclusion of the investigation.
This development comes days after the Governor of Central Bank (CBN) was suspended and detained in DSS custody for alleged gross misconduct.
