National Security Advisers from the 11 member nations of the BRICS bloc have convened in New Delhi for a two-day meeting aimed at addressing emerging global security challenges and strengthening cooperation among member states.
The meeting, chaired by India’s National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, brings together top security officials from Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

Discussions are focused on the theme, “Non-Traditional Security Challenges Confronting the World Today,” with participants examining evolving security threats driven by technological advancements and changing global dynamics.
Key issues on the agenda include cybersecurity, digital vulnerabilities, artificial intelligence-related risks, and other emerging threats affecting national and international security.

Delegates are also reviewing recommendations and outcomes from recent BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and the secure use of Information and Communication Technologies.
The meeting comes as India serves as BRICS Chair for the fourth time, following previous tenures in 2012, 2016, and 2021. Under its 2026 chairmanship, India is promoting the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”

The agenda reflects the bloc’s growing scope beyond economic cooperation, with increasing attention being given to political, security, technological, and people-to-people collaboration among member countries.
