He secured 5,849 votes in the contest, defeating his closest rival, Auwal Lawal Daura, who reportedly scored 21 votes.

With this result, Yusuf Buhari officially clinched the APC ticket to contest for the federal constituency seat in the upcoming general election cycle.

However, his opponent, Auwal Lawal Daura, has raised concerns over the conduct of the primary election, alleging irregularities in the process.

He claimed the exercise did not follow established party guidelines and questioned the credibility of the voting process, stating that many of those counted were not verified party members.

Daura further expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome, insisting that there were issues with the counting procedure and the integrity of the election.

He explained that his participation in the race was driven by a desire to ensure fairness within the party, adding that the push for primaries reflected the wishes of grassroots members rather than a consensus arrangement.

According to him, his stance was meant to promote justice and transparency within the APC process.
