CHIBOK HORROR ESCAPE: ABDUCTED WEDDING GUESTS BREAK FREE FROM BOKO HARAM DEN

Two individuals abducted by Boko Haram insurgents during a wedding ceremony in Chibok, Borno State, have regained their freedom after escaping from captivity.

The development was confirmed by Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, President of the Borno South Youth Alliance, who said the victims managed to flee their captors on April 14, 2026.

According to him, the escape has brought renewed hope to families and communities still waiting for loved ones held by insurgents.

“This development gives renewed hope to all of us and reminds us that even in difficult times, good news can still come,” Kaigama said.

He also called for continued unity and prayers across religious lines, urging Nigerians to support efforts aimed at securing the release of others still in captivity.

“We call on all people of faith — Muslims and Christians alike — to continue praying for more positive outcomes, especially regarding the 416 women and children still in captivity,” he added.

The victims have since been reunited with their families and are said to be in safe condition.

Chibok remains a symbol of Nigeria’s long-running battle with insurgency, particularly since the 2014 mass abduction of schoolgirls that drew global attention. Despite ongoing military and humanitarian efforts, the area continues to face sporadic attacks and kidnappings, highlighting persistent security challenges in the region.
