CORPORATE EXIT: IBUKUN AWOSIKA STEPS DOWN FROM CADBURY NIGERIA PLC BOARD AFTER 15 YEARS

In an official notification issued from its Lagos headquarters on April 29, 2026, the company disclosed the development to regulators and investors.

Cadbury Nigeria Plc has formally announced the resignation of one of its longest-serving directors, Ibukun Awosika, bringing to a close a significant chapter in the company’s corporate governance history.

In an official notification issued from its Lagos headquarters on April 29, 2026, the company disclosed the development to regulators and investors.

“This to notify Nigerian Exchange Limited and the investing public that the Board has considered and accepted the resignation of Mrs. Ibukun Awosika as Director of Cadbury Nigeria Plc (the Company) with effect from Friday, 1st May 2026,” the statement read.

Mrs. Awosika, a respected business leader, has been a member of the board since October 2009, playing a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the company for over a decade and a half.

Her tenure coincided with periods of transformation within the Nigerian consumer goods sector, as well as evolving operational dynamics within Cadbury Nigeria Plc, a member of the Mondelez International family of companies.

Acknowledging her contributions, the Board expressed gratitude for her service, stating: “The Board expresses its deep appreciation to Mrs. Awosika for her valued contribution since his appointment in October 2009.”

Despite a minor clerical inconsistency in pronoun usage within the statement, the sentiment clearly reflected the board’s recognition of her impact and dedication.

Cadbury Nigeria Plc, headquartered on Lateef Jakande Road in Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos, operates as one of Nigeria’s prominent food and beverage manufacturers.

The company indicated that steps are already being taken to ensure continuity in its leadership structure. “Mrs. Awosika’s replacement on the Board of the Company will be announced in due course,” the notice added, pointing to an ongoing process to appoint a successor.

The announcement was signed by Company Secretary Afolasade Olowe.
