Court affirms suspension of Ganduje as APC member

The Kano State High Court has confirmed the suspension of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In response to an ex parte order filed on Wednesday, Justice Usman Malam Na’Abba has also prohibited Ganduje from representing himself as an APC member until the motion on notice is heard and decided.

This restraining order was issued following an ex parte application submitted by Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani Barguma, both APC members from Ganduje Ward. The court has scheduled a hearing on the main case for April 30th.

Initially, the Kano APC State Working Committee suspended ward party leaders who had previously suspended Ganduje. This action occurred after the Ganduje ward in Dawkin Tofa Local Government area announced the suspension of the APC’s national chairman, citing corruption charges filed against him by the government.

However, APC’s Dawakin Tofa Local Government Chairman, Inusa Suleiman Dawanau, stated that those responsible for the suspension were found participating in anti-party activities, with evidence of their meetings with the ruling opposition party exposed.

As a result, the State Working Committee imposed a six-month sanction on the involved individuals and formed a committee to investigate several allegations against them. The APC then petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, requesting an investigation into those behind the alleged suspension of Ganduje.

In a statement, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, described the suspension as a “criminal act” by impostors attempting to cause chaos within the Ganduje Ward chapter of the party. These individuals are not official APC members and have connections to senior officials and representatives of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The NNPP has since distanced itself from the ongoing conflict within the Kano APC.
