The Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command, Fatai Tijani, has called for stronger collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Armed Forces to improve security operations across Lagos State.

He made the remarks on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, during courtesy visits to several military formations, including the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army at Lagbaja Cantonment in Ikeja, the 651 Base Service Group of the Nigerian Air Force at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, and the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft in Apapa.
The visits were aimed at strengthening inter-agency cooperation, improving intelligence sharing, and enhancing joint operational responses to security challenges within the state.

At the 9 Brigade headquarters, the police commissioner met with Commander Ayokunle Owolabi, where both sides emphasized the importance of sustained partnership in internal security and crime prevention.
At the Air Force base, discussions with Air Commodore M. A. Imam focused on professionalism, intelligence exchange, and coordinated responses to security threats.

During his visit to the naval base, the commissioner was received by Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, where talks centred on securing Lagos waterways and improving joint maritime security operations.
He stressed that effective security management in a complex state like Lagos requires unity, cooperation, and shared responsibility among all security agencies.

The police chief also commended the military for its continued support, noting that strong inter-agency synergy remains essential for maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety.
He reaffirmed the Lagos Police Command’s commitment to sustaining peace and creating a secure environment that supports economic and social development in the state.
