#Customs Seizes Trailer Loaded with Expired Foreign Juice and Milk in Zamfara: FOU Zone B Operations

The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘B’ Kaduna, intercepted a trailer carrying expired foreign juice and milk in Zamfara State. Comptroller Dalha Wada Chedi, the Controller of FOU Zone B in Kaduna, disclosed this on Friday, February 16, 2024.

Acting on credible intelligence along Tsafe-Funtua Road, the Unit intercepted the truck on suspicion of improper importation on February 11, 2024, at about 2200hrs.

Subsequent examination revealed 75 cartons of expired foreign jolly juice powder and 8 sacks of foreign milk powder, expired since 2019, deemed unfit for human consumption.

The seized items were concealed with sacks of dried hides & skin, posing a potential threat to public health if not intercepted.

Chedi also reported other successful interceptions, emphasizing the Unit’s commitment to combat smuggling and protect citizens.

The total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the seizures made between January 1 and February 16, 2024, amounted to One Billion, Nine Hundred and Seventy-Five Million, Six Hundred and Fifty-Seven Thousand, Eight Hundred and Sixty-Five Naira and Ninety-Six Kobo (#1,975,657,865.96).

He urged the public to support the fight against smuggling, emphasizing the health and economic risks associated with such illegal activities.
