A major industrial partnership has been announced between Dangote Industries Limited and the Niger State Government aimed at boosting industrialisation, strengthening agriculture, and expanding economic opportunities in the state.

The collaboration includes multiple economic initiatives, among them a long-term agreement between Dangote Industries Limited and the Niger State Government to support large-scale rice production and investment in agro-industrial development.
Under the arrangement, Dangote Rice Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to guarantee the off-take of about one million metric tons of paddy rice over the next 10 years, to be supplied by Niger Foods to improve food security in Nigeria.

A key part of the project is the construction of a 32-metric-ton-per-hour rice mill in Wushishi, Niger State, being developed on a 30-hectare site. Officials say the facility will enhance local rice production, create jobs, and support agricultural value chains once completed.
The Dangote Group also confirmed that several of its business units—including Dangote Cement, Dangote Sugar Refinery, NASCON Allied Industries, and Dangote Fertiliser—are participating in the Niger Trade Fair, where investment opportunities and ongoing projects are being showcased.

Organisers of the fair said the event is expected to attract hundreds of exhibitors, investors, and policymakers, with a focus on public-private partnerships as a driver of economic growth.

Stakeholders involved in the project noted that the initiative will expand commercial rice farming, create tens of thousands of jobs, and strengthen local participation in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

The partnership is being positioned as part of broader efforts to reduce food imports, promote local production, and accelerate industrial development in Niger State and beyond.
