The company said the multi-billion-dollar project aligns with its Vision 2030 strategy and is aimed at positioning the group as a global leader in industrial manufacturing and trade.

The proposed port, located along the Atlantic coastline between Ogun Waterside in Ogun State and Ilaje in Ondo State, is expected to function as a major logistics hub for imports, exports, and regional commerce.

As part of early preparations, a Dangote delegation led by its Infrastructure and Logistics Managing Director, Capt. Jamil Abubakar, visited host communities in both states to begin stakeholder engagement ahead of project execution.

The company explained that the deep-sea port would help reduce pressure on existing ports, boost trade efficiency, and create employment opportunities for surrounding communities.

It added that the facility is designed to support the export of key industrial products such as fertilisers, petrochemicals, and refined petroleum, while also accommodating future LNG exports and heavy equipment imports.

Traditional rulers in the affected communities, including Ode-Omi and Araromi Seaside Kingdom, expressed support for the project and pledged cooperation as survey and preliminary activities commence, including land assessment and compensation processes.

The Nigerian Navy also assured collaboration to support the smooth execution of the project in line with national economic interests.

Dangote Industries stated that the port will serve as a strategic gateway to boost Nigeria’s global trade competitiveness and enhance participation under the African Continental Free Trade Area.
